If you’re looking for a Himalayan experience that still feels untouched, the Manaslu region delivers. Far from the crowded trails, this journey unfolds through remote valleys, ancient trade routes, and deeply rooted Tibetan-influenced culture. It’s not just a trek—it’s a passage through time, where every step reveals dramatic landscapes and authentic mountain life.
The Manaslu region, centered around Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), offers one of Nepal’s most rewarding yet less commercialized trekking experiences. The iconic Manaslu Circuit Trek typically begins in Arughat Bazaar and ends in Besisahar, taking about 12–18 days to complete.
Once a fully camping-based trek, the route now features comfortable tea-house accommodations, making it more accessible without losing its remote charm. The trail follows the historic Budhi Gandaki river - an ancient salt-trading route - before ascending to high alpine terrain and crossing the dramatic Larkya La Pass.
Due to its protected status, trekkers require:
1. Larkya La Pass (5,106 m)
The highest point of the trek, offering breathtaking panoramic views of surrounding Himalayan giants.
2. Samagaon Village
A cultural heart of the region with a serene monastery and traditional Tibetan lifestyle.
3. Samdo Village
The last settlement before the pass, close to the Tibetan border, with expansive mountain views.
4. Syala Village
Known for its dramatic amphitheater of peaks forming a natural horseshoe.
5. Bimtang Valley
A peaceful alpine meadow surrounded by towering mountains—perfect for rest and reflection.
6. Tsum Valley (Optional Extension)
A sacred Himalayan valley rich in Buddhist culture, monasteries, and untouched beauty.
