Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar, passing terraced fields, rivers, and rural villages. From Arughat, continue along a rough dirt road via Soti Khola to Machha Khola, situated beside the Budhi Gandaki River. This long day’s drive sets you up for the trek.
Follow the Budhi Gandaki Gorge, crossing suspension bridges and enjoying forested trails where langur monkeys are often seen. Pass Khorlabesi, Tatopani (hot springs), and Dovan before reaching the cultural village of Jagat, the first Tibetan-influenced settlement on the route.
Optional: Dry season: vehicle is accessble up to Jagat as well.
The trail climbs rocky ridges with views of Sringi Himal (7,187m). Walk past terraced fields of maize, potatoes, and millet before entering bamboo forests. Enter the Nupri region, where Buddhist culture becomes more prominent, and overnight in Deng.
Continue through forests of fir, oak, and rhododendron, and pass mani walls carved with Buddhist prayers. The trail winds through canyons and valleys before reaching Namrung, a small settlement with excellent views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal.

A short and easier day, perfect for acclimatization. Trek past yak pastures and cross the treeline into alpine terrain. Samdo is a traditional Tibetan refugee village, situated at the junction of three valleys and close to the Tibetan border.
