The Champa Devi Day Hike is one of the most popular hiking experiences near Kathmandu. Located at an elevation of 2,280 meters, Champa Devi is the third-highest hill surrounding the Kathmandu Valley and offers spectacular panoramic views of the city and the Himalayan ranges.

 

This scenic hiking trail is perfect for travelers who want to explore Nepal’s natural beauty within a short time. From the summit, hikers can enjoy incredible views of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur valleys, along with snow-capped mountain ranges including Mt. Everest, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, and Annapurna on clear days.

Itinerary

7:00 AM – Hotel Pickup & Drive to Hattiban

Your hiking guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu in a private vehicle. We then drive to Hattiban Resort, the starting point of the hike. If time permits, we may stop briefly at the beautiful Taudaha Lake on the way.

 

8:00 AM – Hike from Hattiban to Champa Devi via Chhap Bhanjyang

After a short break at Hattiban, the hike begins through dense forests and stone staircases leading toward the Champa Devi summit.

 

The uphill walk takes approximately 3.5 hours, offering peaceful surroundings, fresh mountain air, and opportunities to observe local birds, flora, and fauna along the trail.

Upon reaching the summit of Champa Devi (2,280m), enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan ranges. Here, we relax, take photographs, and enjoy packed snacks or lunch.

 

The descent follows a different scenic route via Chhap Bhanjyang and continues down to Machhegaun, where our private vehicle will be waiting for the drive back to Kathmandu.

 

2:00 PM – Drop-off at Hotel

After completing the hike, we drive back and drop you off at your hotel in Kathmandu.
