The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is a spectacular high-altitude journey that connects the hidden Rolwaling Valley with the world-famous Everest region. Located inside the Gaurishankar Conservation Area and Sagarmatha National Park, this trek offers a rare combination of wilderness adventure, glacier crossings, remote Himalayan culture, and iconic mountain scenery.
The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chet Chet before trekking through beautiful hillside villages and dense rhododendron forests toward Simigaon. As the trail enters the sacred Rolwaling Valley, trekkers pass traditional Sherpa settlements like Dongang, Beding, and Na Village, where ancient monasteries, yak pastures, and Buddhist prayer flags create a peaceful Himalayan atmosphere.
One of the major highlights is reaching Tsho Rolpa Lake (4,580m), Nepal’s largest glacial lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks and massive glaciers. Beyond the lake, the adventure becomes more challenging as the trail crosses rugged glacier terrain and steep rocky sections toward the legendary Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755m).
Crossing the pass is a rewarding experience with breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest (8,848m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Gaurishankar (7,134m), Pachermo Peak, and other Himalayan giants. After entering the Khumbu region, the route descends through remote alpine valleys toward Thame and Namche Bazaar, where trekkers experience vibrant Sherpa culture and famous Everest trails before reaching Lukla.
This trek is ideal for adventure lovers seeking a challenging off-the-beaten-path experience filled with glaciers, mountain lakes, remote villages, technical high passes, and authentic Himalayan culture.
The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek stands out as one of Nepal’s most adventurous and less-crowded trekking experiences. Unlike standard trekking routes, this journey combines remote wilderness, glacier trekking, technical mountain passes, and the iconic Everest region in a single expedition.
